Holiday Safe Foods for Dogs

Thanksgiving and Christmas are both on the horizon. During this busy time, it can be easy to forget what foods are safe or toxic for our Busy Pups. Don't worry, I got you covered.

Here is a list of foods that your dog can have to celebrate the holidays with you and then a list of foods to avoid.

Safe Holiday Foods:

  • Cranberries. You can easily make cranberry dog cookies. Combine flour, milk or water, and eggs in a bowl to make a cookie texture. Then, combine some craisins into the mixture. Bake it how you like to make cookies. You can add honey, brewer's yeast, and more for more flavor. Let them cool and serve them to your dog.

  • Sweet Potatoes.  Slice or dice them, and bake them in your oven (350`f) on a baking tray for about an hour. Let it cool and you have a tasty treat for your dog.

  • Blueberries

  • Spinach

  • Green beans (plain)

  • Broccoli (plain)

  • Low seasoned nongreasy meats

Here are a few No No's for our Pups:

  • Cooked Bones

  • Overly seasoned and greasy foods

  • Russet Potatoes

  • Chocolate

  • Anything sweetened with the natural sweetener Xylitol - aka - birch sugar, wood sugar, and birch extract

  • Salty foods or overly sweet foods

  • Grapes or raisins

Happy Holidays from, the Busy With Dogs Family.

Friendly reminder that I am not a vet, this is just a brief list based on the research I have done. Remember that you can always check with your vet if you are not sure what foods are safe for your dogs. Also, the food suggestions are a treat and not a meal substitute.
